Love and lust are two very different things Lisa but both can be unconditional and lasting. Both are based on understanding and sharing common needs and life objectives. If you have two people whos objective is LOVE then there is a chance of it being unconditional and lasting. If you have two people whos objective is SEX then there is a chance of it being unconditional and lasting. If one persons objective is LOVE and the other's SEX the relationship is doomed.
Nothing wrong with either. As long as the relationship is clearly defined, undertood, and fullfilling both can be long term.

It is possible to have both - I do with my husband. Of course the desire part isn't ALL the time...but often enough. ;)
But Rascal's right - if one has love in mind and the other lust, it won't work. It has to be one or the other...or both. Ya can't mix and match them.

Love is kind, Love is....according to the bible.
Love is therefore not EROTIC.
