It can if you and your significant other aren't committed to each other. Sometimes the people that try to contact you are not just friends, they can be exes, old lovers and etc. Some people can be very disrespectful even if your status says " in a relationship." It wont cause you any problems if your profile is set to private. This way you can control who is able to leave unwanted messages on your wall or photos/videos. Whoever you add as a friend, please make sure they respect your relationship,and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize it, if not it will cause problems.

I myself know my husband has a high school sweetheart that is on his facebook.I was fine with it until i read on her facebook sounding like she is unhappily married and now she keeps popping up chatting with him.I am not cool with it now sorry.I think her intentions are no good.Just get bad vibe about it.I have over 200 friends and not one is a ex..

Lol. yes my bf calls it the chat line. I try to explain to him that i just like catching up with old friends. But he doesn't like me spending too much time on it.
