I got a written warning at work today for turning my lesson plans in on Friday (i work in a daycare) The director said the were due on Wednesday. I have always turned them in on Friday as was told when I first started. The director said it was in my emplyee policy handbook and I should have read it. So, I went home and read it today and it says Friday!!! She also wrote me up for not posting my lesson plans (we do this on Monday and I was out with my sick son on Monday and Tuesday and just got back today) I was also written up for clocking in one minute late last wednesday and two minutes late today (the only reason I clocked in late today is because there were no time cards and I had to go find her to ask her where they were then go find them write all my information on it and clock in) I"ve never been written up for anything ever and I never even got a verbal warning or anything. Everyone at work says I'm a miracle worker (i work with ten eighteen month to two and a half year olds and they behave very well for me but not anyone else.) I don't know how to take the warning and why they are doing this?

Your boss is either having cramps, or is planning to fire you and is trying to build a paper trail to justify firing you.

I would guess it is the latter.

You need to document what happens so that when she fires you you can file a wrongful termination suit against the daycare and win a fat check.

Document things in a notebook - write down time / date / who was there. Not everything that happens, just the relevant things. Also - DON'T do it at work - do it at home and NEVER take your notebook to work, ever, for any reason.

You don't want to tell them that you are doing this - just do it.

When you get written up for something, make sure to add your comments to it before signing. Something brief like "Was advised by supervisor during training to turn in lesson plan on Friday" or "clocked in 2 minutes late because because no time cards were initially available" Don't argue with your supervisor when she writes you up - just add your comments to the form. Don't worry about the 1 minute late thing - any judge will see that as technically correct (on their part) but petty and indicative of their intent to wrongfully terminate you.

Since the handbook indicates friday for the "lesson plans" you are on solid ground there.

In the mean time watch your Ps and your Qs - and DO NOT be late ever again. Early is cool, late is not. Don't blow your fat check on hitting the snooze button.

When they do fire you, don't make a fuss, don't tell them you are going to sue them, don't tell them that you have been keeping records of what has been going on, don't threaten them. Just be gracious, thank them for the time you worked there and leave quietly and with your dignity.

If I were you I would start consulting with a lawyer now.

Write everything down and keep notes. Is writing a person up for not coming in for lagit reasons breaking the rules? You would think that taking care of your sick child would trump work. You need to show her your handbook and require that she remove that write up. All of this could be considered harassment, but I am not an expert.

I would sit and talk with her. Say, I feel that these things were unwarranted. I really like my job here, and if there is an underlying problem I want to discuss it. It sounds like she has some other personal issue and is taking it out in this way. If this continues look for another job before you get fired for nothing and it looks bad =/ Sorry ive had a job like this before too.

hello, stand up for what is right, you should show her what the hand book reads, that it is on friday, not wednesday, and tell the director to take off the written warning, and the wright up for monday, because you was not at work, and to take off the wright up for to day because it was her fault for you being two minutes late,if she had done her job,you would have been on time, let the director know you are going to the boss, please stand up for your wrights, good luck
