what is the diffrence between sex offender and a pedifile i only ask becouse that subject will pi$$ me off faster than any thing my brother is 23 his daughter is turning 5 in july the mother is 21 he got sent to prison when he was 21 i do not think that is fair at all and the best part is they were high school sweet hearts but due to the laws he is a sex offender do you think that is right i would like to know how you feel on this subject and please remember there is a diffrence between sex offender and a pedifile and a child molester

a pedophile is a person who molests or rapes young children most often repeatedly before being arrested.what the law says your brother is,a sex offender,most people would just think him and his girlfriend were irresponsible.we certainly need to question why some states are letting pedophiles off on probation or lite sentences and locking up teenage boys who have sex with their teenage girlfriends.this makes me angry as well, it should be disturbing to everyone.

All molesters, predators and actual rapists are sex offenders, but not all sex offenders are monsters... you gotta look at the actual "crime", not the label.

Of course it's totally wrong that any crime was charged in this case, but it happens a lot....the poor high school senior dating a sophmore,the 19 year old schmuck who lost his head over girl 2 months from the age of consent or the guy who got in a world of trouble over some experienced little hottie who lied about her age, it happens more than you might think that the only thing a guy did wrong was not ask for identification or make the mistake of turning 18 before his high school sweetheart turned 16. And then there is the married couple who gets nailed for "Lewd and Lascivious Conduct" because they were busted by a park ranger fooling around on a camping trip, 8 miles in, and a mile off the trail....in Texas, a person can be charged with a sexual offense for purchasing or owning certain, commonplace "adult toys"

It sounds like what he got charged with is statutory rape, which in this case sounds as ridiculous as you say. There are certainly times when it's valid, but not when the sex is consensual between two people who have been in a relationship. It's a shame that he'll have a sex offender label on him for the rest of his life. NO it's not fair at all and I sure understand your anger. This is a time where the system needs another category. I'm so sorry for the pain that you and your family have been and are still going through.

That really is stupid.. it stays with him forever and all that happened was that his girlfriend was a couple of years younger than HIM..

Sex offender covers a lot of ground and has several definitions whereas a pedophile is a sick S.O.B. who preys on children for sexual reasons. THEY are the ones who need to be strung up, have their genitals sawed off and shoved down their sorry throats until they choke.
